MHA Revised Guidelines On Movement Of Stranded Migrant Workers

The Central Home Ministry through its Secretary, on Tuesday has issued revised Standard Operating Protocol on Movement of Stranded workers by train.

It was mentioned that movement of Shramik Special trains will be permitted by Ministry of Railways (MoR), in consultation with Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

All States/UTs should designate nodal authorities and make necessary arrangement for receiving and sending such stranded persons.

The train schedule including stoppages and destination shall be finalized by MoR based on the requirements of States /UTs and shall be communicated by MoRto the States /UTs for making suitable arrangements for sending and receiving such stranded workers.

Train schedule; protocols for entry and movement of passengers; services to be provided in coaches; and arrangements with States/UTs for booking of tickets shall be publicized by MoR”, mentioned in the revised SOPs.

Lastly, it also said that sending States/UTs and MoR will ensure that all passengers will compulsorily be screened and only asymptomatic passengers are allowed to board the train and during boarding and travel, all passengers will have to observe social distancing. Thereafter, on arrival at their destination, the travelling passengers will have to adhere to such health protocols as are prescribed by the destination State/UT.
