Minor blast in Rohini Court: laptop battery explodes

A minor blast was reported at the Rohini court complex on Thursday morning. The fire department official informed that they received a call regarding the said mysterious explosion at about 10.40 a.m. inside Chamber No.102.

The Fire Department quickly rushed at least six to seven fire tenders to the chamber no.102. No injuries have been reported so far. As per the initial assessment of the incident it is suggested that the possible cause of the blast is due to a battery leakage or malfunction in a laptop.

Yet again the safety and security of Judges and members of the legal fraternity is in question. Though the said blast was due to a minor battery leakage in a laptop, but the threat it poses to the judicial members is worrisome.

Earlier Rohini court was in headlines due to a similar reason when a shootout happened in the Rohini court  where the security of courts and judges was put under the scanner, especially after the death of Dhanbad judge Uttam Anand in a hit-and-run case. The Centre had told the Supreme Court that it is the state governments’ responsibility to provide security to judges and court premises following demands for the formation of a special force to protect judicial officers and advocates and courts.
