The National Green Tribunal principal bench, headed by Justice Swatanter Kumar, on Thursday (July 6) took suo motu cognizance of a media report and picture showing municipal solid waste scattered all over a residential area in Seelampur, North East Delhi.

The report and pictures appeared in the July 6 edition of The Indian Express newspaper.

The bench has issued a show-cause notice to the Commissioner, East Delhi Municipal Corporation and the PWD, State of Delhi NCT as to why appropriate direction should not be passed for violating the orders of the Tribunal.
