US President Donald Trump has suddenly changed his stance on the House’s ObamaCare repeal bill. The bill, which he had said was “a great plan” just last month, has now become “mean” in his eyes.
Media reports say quoting an aide that Trump made this latest remark during a meeting with Republican senators on June 13. When the bill passed the lower house it was celebrated and now the President wants it to be more generous. It has been said that the senators were looking to see how to make the bill more generous even before the President disliked it. They wanted to give increased tax credits for low-income people.
Ash Lee Strong, a spokeswoman for speaker Paul Ryan, reportedly said that the Trump team was working “to repeal and replace this terrible ObamaCare law that is harming Americans.” She was obviously following up on Trump’s earlier comment: “I really appreciate what you’re doing to come out with a bill that’s going to be a phenomenal bill to the people of our country: generous, kind, with heart. That’s what I’m saying.”
Then his changed stance now makes it necessary to incorporate changes, though 80 percent of the bill should remain the same.
