Phoolpur gang rape victim to appear in Allahabad High Court

Prayagraj (ILNS): The Allahabad High Court has directed the police to produce gang-rape victim of Phoolpur before the later today. The Court also directed SSP Prayagraj Sarvsreshtha Tripathi and SHO Phulpur Rakesh Chaurasia and former SHO Brijesh Kumar to be present before the court.

The SSP and SHO were present in the Court yesterday too, on the orders of Court. The progress of the case was informed by filing an affidavit from the SSP.

The case is being heard by a division bench of Justice Shashikant Gupta and Justice Pankaj Bhatia on the plea of the victim. 

The victim’s mother has filed an Application in the Court saying that since October 16 the victim has been kept in the Police Station and the family members are not being allowed to meet her. On this the court has directed the victim to appear today.

Earlier, the Court issued an order on October 15 and summoned SSP Prayagraj and Police in-charge Phulpur to be present before the Court on October 20 to determine the accountability of the negligent Police. The Court has expressed displeasure over the filing of an FIR and taking the victim’s statement, medical examination after three months of delay and after the intervention of the Court.

The victim Petitioner went to Phoolpur Police Station on July 11, with a complaint. The Police drove him away. On July 22, a Complaint was made to SSP Prayagraj. There was also no action on the SSP order. When the FIR was not registered till July 30, she moved to the High Court. The Petition was heard on October 12. When the Court asked for the information, on October 14, the Court was told that the SSP had sent the victim’s Application to Phulpur Police Station on July 23. An FIR has been registered on October 13. The victim’s statement and medico legal investigation have been done.
