Savitri Ratho Sworn In As Judge Of Orissa High Court

Savitri Ratho was sworn in as Judge of the Orissa High Court by the Chief Justice Mohammed Rafiq.

The Centre had cleared her appointment on June 9. A notification issued by Ministry of Law & Justice (Department of Justice) stated: “In exercise of the power conferred by Clause(l) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Miss Savitri Ratho, to be a Judge of the Orissa High Court with effect from the date she assumes charge of her office.”

She is the third woman judge of the Orissa High Court after Amiya Kumari Padhi and Sanju Panda.

On January 22, the SC Collegium had approved the proposal of Orissa HC collegiums for elevation of Ratho.

Savitri Ratho is daughter of former Director General of Police (DGP) Prafulla Ratho. After completing her schooling, She pursued her Law degree from National Law University in New Delhi.

After that, she started practicing under the former advocate of Orissa HC & former Chief Justice of Patna HC, Prafulla Mishra. Later, She worked as the Standing Counsel of Vigilance and was posted as Additional Advocate General before her appointment as Judge of the Orissa High Court.
