SC Collegium approves elevation of advocates & judicial officers as judges of High Courts

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Collegium in its meeting has approved the proposal for elevation of judicial officers and advocates as judges for the High Courts — Delhi, Punjab and Haryana, Gujarat, Allahabad and Kerala.

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting on August 17, has approved the proposal for elevation of six advocates as judges of the Delhi High Court.

The names of the six advocates are

·          Shri Jasmeet Singh,

·          Shri Amit Bansal,

·          Ms. Tara Vitasta Ganju,

·          Shri Anish Dayal,

·          Shri Amit Sharma, and

·          Ms. Mini Pushkarna.

The Collegium today has also approved the proposal for elevation of Rajesh Kumar Bhardwaj, advocate, as judge of the Punjab & Haryana High Court.

The Supreme Court collegium is led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) S.A. Bobde and Justices N. V. Ramana, Arun Mishra, R. F. Nariman and U. U. Lalit are part of the 5-judge Collegium.

In its meeting which was held on August 14, the Collegium approved the elevation of three advocates as Judges of the Gujarat High court.

·         Smt. Vaibhavi Devang Nanavati,

·         Shri Nirzarkumar Sushilkumar Desai, and

·         Shri Nikhil Shreedharan Kariel.

Also, the Collegium has approved the elevation of four Judicial officers as judges of the Allahabad High Court. They are Shri Sanjay Kumar Pachori, Shri Subhash Chnadra Sharma, Shri Subhash Chand and Smt. Saroj Yadav.

Besides that the name of two advocates, Shri Murali Purushothaman and Shri Ziyad Rahman A. A. and two judicial officers, Shri Karunakaran Babu, and Shri (Dr.) Kauser Edappagath has been recommended by the Collegiums for their elevation as judges of the Kerala High Court.
