SCBA writes to New Delhi DM to inspect new Lawyers’ Chambers for setting up Covid care unit

The letter stated, "…the facility is to be made operational at the earliest at the earliest in view of the continuing spike in Covid cases and our members and Supreme Court Staff are getting afflicted and not getting any Covid care facility due to lack of medical infrastructure."

The Supreme Court Bar Association has on Monday written to the New Delhi District Magistrate Dr Monica Priyadarshini requesting her to depute a team of doctors/ officials for inspecting the New Chambers in the Additional Building of the Supreme Court towards setting up a Covid care unit.

The letter stated, “…the facility is to be made operational at the earliest at the earliest in view of the continuing spike in Covid cases and our members and Supreme Court Staff are getting afflicted and not getting any Covid care facility due to lack of medical infrastructure.”

SCBA president Senior Advocate Vikas Singh, Vice President Senior Advocate Pradeep Rai, Senior Executive Member Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa had discussed the proposal with the Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain and Principal Secretary, Health Vikram Dev Dutt, who in-principle agreed and directed the officials of the Delhi Government to do the needful.

Chief Justice of India N.V. Ramana also met with SCBA and SCAORA representatives and had agreed to provide suitable areas for establishing Covid-related facilities, including the setting up of at least 60 beds, conducting RT-PCR tests, and getting Court members vaccinated.
