The Supreme Court bench of Justices Arun Mishra and Mohan M Shantanagoudar on Thursday (September 7) completed its hearing on the PIL brought by Center for Integrity, Governance and Training in Vigilance Administration regarding the appointment of Central Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) KV Chaudhary and about the appointment of people in such critical positions in general.

The court has reserved its verdict. Senior advocate Prashant Bhushan is representing the NGO which filed the PIL.

The issue is about the urgency and importance of the appointments of the Central Vigilance Commissioner and the Vigilance Commissioner, which were kept vacant for a long time, in accordance with the Section 4(1) of the CVC Act.

On Thursday, Bhushan said: “These types of cases are threat to security. The CVC should be transparent and clear the minimum category of transparency should be there.”

The bench reserved judgment.
