The Allahabad High Court on Thursday granted Aparna Purohit, Amazon Prime India’s original content head, protection from any coercive action till the final order while reserving the decision in her anticipatory bail plea.
A single-judge bench of Justice Siddharth passed this order while hearing Purohit’s anticipatory bail application. The anticipatory bail plea was filed before the High Court in connection with an FIR registered in Gautam Budh Nagar in Uttar Pradesh against Purohit and others under Sections 153-A (1) (B), 295-A, 505 (1) (B), 505 (2) of Indian Penal Code.
A First Information Report has also been lodged against Purohit, Tandav web series director Ali Abbas Jafar, producer Himanshu Krishna Mehra and writer Gaurav Solanki and others at Hazratganj Kotwali in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
She has been accused of intentionally hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. The petitioner said the series is fictional which is already written in the disclaimer.
After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the Court has secured the verdict and directed not to take any tortious action against the criminal case lodged till the verdict comes.ABAILA_2640_2021
