The Delhi Police on Wednesday informed the Delhi High Court that they have not relied upon the tweets by Sunanda Pushkar neither have they seen those tweets, in the case of her death. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is the sole accused in this case.
The police further submitted that if Shashi wants to rely on those tweets, they are available on the public domain and can access them. However, her tweets are not in our record or the charge sheet that we have filed.
A single-judge bench of Justice Manoj Kumar Ohri was hearing the petition filed by Mr. Shashi Tharoor through video conferencing seeking directions for the Delhi Police to preserve the twitter account and tweets of the Sunanda Pushkar, tweeted before her death.
Counsel appearing for Tharoor submitted that it is relevant because four autopsy reports and three medical board reports have not been able to confirm whether it was a suicide or homicide and police further did a psychological autopsy of Sunanda, ascertaining her state of mind before her death.
The reason why police are not relying on the tweets is that it would lead to the closure of the case, the counsel for Shashi submitted. He further added by saying that what would be a better indication of her state of mind than her tweets of that day.
The Court has given time to the Delhi Police to file its submissions along with case laws on the issues raised by Shashi.
