The National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) has issued the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for e-Voting in the upcoming Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) Elections 2020-2021, scheduled to be held on February 27, on ‘Online platform’.

In its note regarding e-voting system published on the SCBA website, the NSDL said, “The members can access the e-Voting system at https://www.evoting.nsdl.com and log in through user Id and One Time Password (OTP) to be communicated via registered email and/or mobile number to the eligible voter members to cast vote on the polling day already announced i.e. 27.02.2021 (10:30 AM to 6:00 PM). Apart from convenience of home/office, the safety, security and integrity of voting is ensured by protected systems which cannot be tampered.”

It further stated, “Members can click the lock icon in the Address bar to see more information about the security of the website. The e-Voting system of NSDL since its inception has been complying with all the security requirements  has the requisite certifications for Information Security ISO 27001, Business Continuity BS 22301 and CQW from STQC for Software Quality AND User Experience to ensure Quality of e-Voting.” 

It has been further informed that the Election Committee for SCBA Election 2020-21 also proposes to hold town hall meeting in virtual mode to address the queries of members on February 20 between 11.00 am to 1.00 pm.

The Supreme Court Assistant Registrar had informed the SCBA regarding the recommendation of AIIMS Health Advisory Team to conduct upcoming elections on online platform only, keeping in view the probability of spread of Covid-19 in large congregations. 

In her letter dated 30th Jan, 2021, AIIMS Professor Dr. Arti Kapil had stated, “In view of the probability of spread of COVID in Large congregations and feasibility of the elections to be conducted on secure online platform, it is desirable that the elections are done on online platform.” 

Following which, it was decided to hold the upcoming elections in Online Mode, keeping in mind the health, safety and security of the members of the esteemed organisation SCBA, at the top priority.
