On 16 December, 2020, a three-judge bench of the Apex Court headed by the Chief Justice S. A. Bobde and comprising Justices A. S. Bopanna and V. Ramasubramanian, had issued notice to the Centre, ministries of Law and Justice and Women and Child Development.
The Muzaffarnagar Family Court in Uttar Pradesh has ordered a wife to give her husband monthly maintenance of Rs 2,000. The husband is a tea seller, in dire straits, while the wife is a retired worker of the Army.
New Delhi (ILNS): A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking ‘gender and religion neutral uniform grounds of maintenance and alimony’ for all Indian citizens in the spirit of Articles 14, 15, 21, 44 of the Constitution and International Conventions.
On the earlier hearing in the matter, Senior Advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, submitted the grievance that the affidavit is of utmost importance, because whatever the CBI has alleged, has to be rebutted by the accused persons.
