The Allahabad High Court has sought the CBI’s reply in four weeks on the bail application of Anand Giri, who was arrested in the death case of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Mahant Narendra Giri.

Justice Rahul Chaturvedi passed this order on the bail application of Anand Giri alias Ashok Kumar Chotiya. Advocates Vineet Vikram, Imranullah Khan and Senior Advocates of the CBI Gyan Prakash and Sanjay Yadav argued the application.

According to the petitioner’s advocate, Anand Giri has been falsely implicated in the case. The suicide note in which his name appears is suspicious. Apart from this, there is no evidence against the petitioner who was in Haridwar, away from the city when the incident occurred, when SHO Georgetown informed the petitioner over phone regarding the incident.

The petitioner submitted that there is a cutting in the suicide note and the name of the saint who died in August 21 has also been mentioned in the suicide note. The note is not written by the deceased Mahant, averred the petitioner.

The petitioner has been in jail since September 22, 2021. It is pertinent to note that the Allahabad sessions court on November 11 rejected the bail application of Anand Giri in the same case, thereafter he has approached the High Court.

Mahant Narendra Giri’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in Baghambari Gaddi Math in Prayagraj on September 20. A suicide note was also recovered from him, in which he had accused his disciple Anand Giri, Aadya Tiwari, and Sandeep Tiwari of mental torture.

At the same time, after the incident, all the three accused were arrested and sent to judicial custody. At present, all three are lodged in Naini Central Jail in Prayagraj.

A Prayagraj court has allowed the CBI application seeking permission to take voice samples of Anand Giri in the death case of Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) president Narendra Giri.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate ordered the voice sample inside the jail, according to the rules. The arguments from both CBI and counsel for Anand Giri were completed today and the order came late in the evening today.

The CBI had sought permission from the court for Anand Giri’s voice sample. Anand Giri’s lawyers opposed the application seeking voice sample. CBI lawyers said the voice sample was important in the investigation.

It is pertinent to note that the Allahabad sessions court on November 11 rejected the bail application of Anand Giri in the same case.
