The Gauhati High Court on April 27 closed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) alleging that the patients who got Covid -19 were not given treatment for their ailments while their cases were being processed for admission in various medical colleges and hospitals in Assam.
The Supreme Court's Collegium headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana and also comprising of Justices Uday Umesh Lalit, A M Khanwilkar, Dr DY Chandrachud and L Nageswara Rao has recommended names of 13 advocates for elevation as the judges of the Allahabad High Court.
Kalita’s complaint was registered as 77999/2021, and it urges the NHRC to take cognizance of the offence and book the culprits under the law for the ruthless attack on frontline medical staff who have been working hard in these tough times and catering to the public health at large.
