The government has agreed to give an additional chance to the UPSC Civil Services Examination candidates who gave their last attempt in October 2020. The decision is taken in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
The Apex Court in September 2020 had directed the Central Government and the Union Public Services Commission to consider granting an extra chance to candidates who otherwise had their last attempt in 2020 and also to consider extending the upper age limit.
The Central Board of Secondary Education on Wednesday cancelled the class 10 board exams and the class 12 board exams have been deferred in view of a nationwide Covid surge that had led to parents, students, and various states demanding exams to be scrapped.
The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ordered for the release of a man from a deportation centre in Narela area of the national capital after observing that "it is being detained by the official without any legal cause, occasion or justification; and in gross violation of the procedure established by law."
