According to the petitioners present legal regime created by section 7B(1), 7D, and 8(2) read with section 9 (1) of the Citizenship act violates Article 14, 21 and 25. The writ petitioners also described how the citizenship laws over dual citizenship were before the constituent assembly.
On Chief Justice S.A. Bobde' inquiry, Senior Advocate Prashant Bhushan, appearing for the NGO, submitted, “The SPP should be independent of Centre and in such matters, the Court should not be swayed by the names proposed by the Centre.”
