Infuriated over the worsening air pollution in Delhi and the National Capital Region due to stubble burning, the Supreme Court on Saturday asked the Centre to apprise it on Monday, November 15 on the decisions taken to address the emergency situation caused by the air pollution.
The President of India, in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, has appointed Justice Sanjay Yadav, Judge of the Allahabad High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court
The Bar Council of India on Sunday unanimously accepted the decision passed by its sub-committee, which was constituted to resolve the issue between the High Court Bar Association, Punjab & Haryana and the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana.
The tenure of the previous chief justices of India revealed a lack of consensus among the collegium members. The new chief justice needs to take this seriously, along with other judicial issues that need to be addressed urgently to restore the credibility of the Supreme Court.
The Division bench of the Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee also noticed “that the applicant was on bail throughout the trial. It is nobody’s case that the applicant jumped the bail or breached any condition of bail.”
