The tenure of the previous chief justices of India revealed a lack of consensus among the collegium members. The new chief justice needs to take this seriously, along with other judicial issues that need to be addressed urgently to restore the credibility of the Supreme Court.

Earlier, yesterday the Chief Justice stated that we are extending it till July 15, 2021 in the same lines as that we earlier did.

The Division bench of the Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice Arijit Banerjee also noticed “that the applicant was on bail throughout the trial. It is nobody’s case that the applicant jumped the bail or breached any condition of bail.”

The Counsel informed the Court that they have already made a representation to the EC and that they have appreciated it. However, the Bench, while dismissing the plea, stated, “Certainly we can do, but we don’t want to do.”

Justice Ramana’s humble beginnings have given him an insight into the suffering of the common man, which has also made him a champion of civil liberties. He has great empathy for those requiring protection of human rights. His tenure, no doubt, will be marked by compassion, expertise and wisdom.
