The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the Delhi High Court order, which had held that community dogs (stray/street) have the right to food and citizens have the right to feed them.

The Delhi High Court has issued detailed orders on feeding stray dogs in cities. The order has demarcated roles for resident welfare associations, municipal corporations, police and the Animal Welfare Board of India. The animals' upkeep will entail feeding, their treatment and vaccination.
