The Supreme Court on Monday heard the plea by the Kerala government seeking directions to withdraw cases against CPI(M) leaders, including Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty, for vandalism inside the state Assembly in 2015, when the current regime was not in power.

Supreme Court on Tuesday adjourned hearing of Kerala government plea seeking directions to withdraw 2015 Assembly violence cases against CPM leaders including Kerala Education Minister V. Sivankutty.

Seriousness of the crime itself can not be taken as a factor to uphold the conviction unless the conscience of the court is satisfied, said the Kerala High Court while setting aside the life imprisonment sentence given to five BJP party workers involved in murder of two persons out of a political feud.
