The proposed amendment in the Bill can deny the right to access public information if the government thinks that it impinges on the private realm of a person and is not of larger public interest.

The first advice by UIDAI, through a press release, was that an Aadhaar-user should not share the photocopy with any organisation as it could lead to misuse. In less than 24 hours, MEITY advised Aadhaar users to practice “normal prudence” in sharing information.

WhatsApp on Friday informed the Delhi High Court that it has decided not to enforce the new privacy policy till the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 comes into effect. WhatsApp also said it won't enforce new privacy policy till data protection bill comes into force.

The Data Protection Bill has been in the pipeline for a couple of years and it is a mystery when it will become an Act. Justice BN Srikrishna had led the committee that drafted the Personal Data Protection Bill.
