The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Thursday disposed of a PIL against the marketing of Chyawanprash in the name of Saffola Immuniveda Chyawanprash.

The PIL has been filed by one Dr Suri Partha Abhiram. Radhika Suri, Senior Counsel for the petitioner, submitted that the petitioner has filed a representation dated 18.11.2021 before the respondent-authorities in this regard, which is pending consideration.

The Division Bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shanker Jha and Justice Arun Palli without entering into the issue as to whether the petition falls within the category of genuine public interest or not and taking note of the fact that the petitioner’s representation is already pending before the respondent authorities, disposed the PIL granting liberty to the petitioner to pursue his representation.

The Bench further granted liberty to the petitioner to file a complaint before the competent authority in respect of his concerns/grievances in accordance with the statutory provisions of the Act and the Rules, if so advised.
