The electoral bonds scheme has run into rough weather ever since it began and the Court will soon be hearing petitions challenging it. They allege that it has opened the doors to unlimited, unchecked funding to political parties in the country

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed the plea of a non-governmental organisation seeking a stay on the sale of fresh electoral bonds ahead of state assembly elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and the union territory of Puducherry.

Supreme Court gave permission to Param Bir Singh to withdraw the petition and said go for hearing in High Court.

In the meanwhile, Chief Justice Bobde expressed concern at the possible misuse of electoral bonds, saying, “We don’t want to get into the political arena.

The Supreme Court has stayed the hearing of the PIL related to the pending corona vaccine in the Delhi High Court.

The petitioner highlighted that the plea challenging electoral bonds has been pending in the Top Court since September 2017.
