New Delhi (ILNS): The Sessions court in Lalitpur district on Monday sentenced a self-styled occultist to life imprisonment in a two-and-a-half-year-old case for raping a woman on the pretext of ‘flogging’ her to cure her.
New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition filed by Saritha S. Nair as frivolous and also imposed a cost of Rs 1 lakh. Nair, an accused in the solar scam, had challenged the election of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Wayanad constituency.
Two men, Achhar Singh and Budhi Singh, had challenged their conviction by the Himachal Pradesh High Court. One had been sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment and the other to undergo life imprisonment, plus a fine. The High Court had overturned their acquittal by the trial court.
