Kerala High Court division bench heard a PIL filed by Kerala Independent Farmers Association seeking direction to the Union of India to cause publication of notification in Malayalam and Tamil languages with local circulation of the contents.

The petitioners, represented by Advocate Kartik Shukul, submitted that there has been an alarming rise in the unnatural deaths of elephants reported, especially due to electrocution.

The ministry also relied on the remark made by the FSSAI that anything which is non-food (not consumed by humans) is not within the ambit of FSSAI Act, 2006 and concluded that animal feed is not regulated by FSSAI.
