The minor, belonging to a Scheduled Caste community, has alleged that she was gang-raped, solely for her family’s political affiliations and for her religious beliefs.

SC today took serious note of the events in Hathras where a 19-year-old Dalit girl was gang-raped, tortured and then killed, allegedly by four upper caste men. Adding to her family’s woes, the UP police forcibly cremated her body in the dead of night. The top court termed these events as “shocking”.

New Delhi (ILNS): Rapes have almost become de rigueur in India. Every day one hears of more horrific incidents. A time may come when the entire population would have become desensitised enough to ignore such news. The high courts, however, have kept vigil.
