The Supreme Court on Friday reserved the Judgement on a bail plea of human rights activist Gautam Navlakha challenging the Bombay High Court’s order rejecting his bail application in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist link case.

The Supreme Court on Monday has deferred the hearing to March 23, Tuesday, on a bail plea filed by human rights activist Gautam Navlakha in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist link case.

The bench comprising Justices U.U. Lalit, Indira Banerjee and K.M. Joseph sought the NIA's response by March 15.

In a Sunday (July 12) hearing, a special court in Mumbai denied default bail to activist Gautam Navlakha who is currently lodged at Taloja jail. The court also allowed the NIA's application seeking custody of Navlakha for ten days in order to question him in the Bhima Koregaon case.

A three- Judge Bench of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Indira Banerjee set aside order of the Delhi High Court stating that the High Court should not have entertained interim bail plea of social activist Gautam Navlakha in Bhima Koregaon.

The Supreme Court has today asked the National Investigation Agency to provide Gautam Navlakha’s Counsel with a copy of its petition, while adjourning the matter till July 6. The interim order of the Court ordering stay on the Delhi High Court’s order will continue till then.

Supreme Court issued the notice on a plea filed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) challenging order of the Delhi High Court dated May 27th that had asked for record of proceedings before Special NIA Courts in Delhi & Mumbai based on which Gautam Navlakha was transferred from Delhi to Mumbai.
