Hathras rape case

The accused have been in jail since October 7 last year in another case under Sections 153A (promoting enmity between groups), 295A (outraging religious feelings), 124A (sedition), 120B (conspiracy) of IPC, 17/18 of UAPA (raising funds for terrorist act) and under the IT Act.

In what can be called a major setback for the Uttar Pradesh government, the Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the government to arrange for the shifting of arrested Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan

The Supreme Court has given permission to the Kerala Journalist Siddique Kappan to meet his ailing mother through video conferencing. Siddique was arrested while he was on his way to meet the hathras rape victim's mother.

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued a notice in a Public Interest Litigation to several social media organizations and media houses for the alleged disclosure of the identity of the victim of Hathras rape case.

New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court today turned down an appeal for transfer of the Hathras case to Delhi, saying that transfer can be considered once investigation is complete.

A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Centre to impose President’s rule, as per provisions of Article 356 of the Indian Constitution, in Uttar Pradesh.
