Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju has said that the Central government will table a bill on mediation in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament.

While 16 names were recommended for appointment to the Allahabad High Court, 8 were chosen for Kerala, 10 for Calcutta High Court , 7 for Rajasthan, 5 each for Gauhati and Jharkhand, 4 each for Punjab & Haryana and Madras, 2 for Chhattisgarh, and 1 for Madhya Pradesh.

According to the petition filed in the last 70 years, there has been no proper allocation of funds with the corresponding increase in pulation judiciary legal awareness, increase in legislation and the same is a clear violation of the basic structure of the Constitution as well as basic human rights.

Even as courts are pulling up governments for dereliction of duty during these tumultuous times, they are laying the groundwork for future course of action and the third wave which will affect children.

Earlier on April 27, the same Bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, L Nageswara Rao and S Ravindra Bhat had said that the High Courts are in a better position to monitor the situation.

Just as High Courts set the pace for opposition to Indira Gandhi’s Emergency, so too has the Madras High Court established the tone and tenor for holding the government accountable for the spread of the killer pandemic through allowing stretched out election schedules and mammoth rallies.

The Solicitor General of India on Friday complained to the Supreme Court that several high courts of the country were blaming the Centre for the complete mess the country was in now because of the alleged utter mishandling of the coronavirus pandemic and the incredible number of deaths.

The Supreme court will today hear a suo motu plea on the supply of oxygen, essential drugs, the method and manner of vaccination, and the power to declare lockdown amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Justice Chandrachud said the Supreme Court’s function here is complementary, especially when there is a pan-India issue being considered.
