Illegal Detention

The Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) had, through its plea, asked the Supreme Court to intervene and exercise its constitutional powers to order the release of Kappan calling it an illegal arrest and unlawful detention.

The Single Bench of Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri has said that even though the government has released the farmers, it is yet to be decided how legitimate the custody of the farmers was.
