After the Bombay High Court pulled up the media for being highly polarised in its coverage of the Rajput case, the News Broadcasting Standards Authority directed four channels to air their apologies.
A bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice G.S. Kulkarni was referring to a hashtag campaign #ArrestRhea run by the channel, following the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
The Counsel for the respondents shall be at liberty to file their objections to the said application as well within the aforesaid period, the Court said.
The plea claimed that the notice is violative of the fundamental rights by forcing the candidates, like the petitioner, to risk their health and safety in the current situation of the Covid-19 pandemic
