The Supreme Court on Wednesday has dismissed an appeal against the conviction and Sentence by a man accused for raping a 6-year-old girl while rejecting the contention, accused is one handed and physically impossible to rape.
The Court was hearing a Special Leave Petition filed challenging the Punjab and Haryana High Court decision refusing anticipatory bail to the petitioner in a case under Sections 354, 506 (criminal intimidation), 341 (wrongful restraint), and Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Senior Advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, appearing for West Bengal, said the matter is in the ambit of the concurrent list, where both the Centre and the State can legislate. The State law cannot be rendered repugnant to the Centre’s law, until and unless it is in conflict with the same.
