The bench while listing the matter for further hearing on August 3 has further directed the Secretary to collect information from all the states and submit a report.

The plea in Supreme Court has sought direction to the union for framing and finalizing the norms or criteria for the nomination of the deserving person on the Maharashtra Legislative Council as members thereof, in consonance with the provision of Art.171 of the Constitution of India.
