Over 100 practicing lawyers and members of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) have filed an intervention application seeking complete physical hearing. The IA has been filed in the pending petition of All India Association of Jurists (AIAJ) writ petition.
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to all states and Union Territories (UTs) on a petition, seeking direction to the Centre to advise all police stations against registering FIRs under Section 66A, which was declared unconstitutional by the top court on March 24, 2015.
The Supreme court bench led by Justice R.F. Nariman and Justice B.R. Gavai reserved verdict on the plea for contempt action against political parties which failed to declare and publicize criminal antecedents of their candidates in the Bihar election.
"The Kanwar yatra is postponed this year, like last year, because of Covid-19 pandemic. If the local devotee want to go for local yatra and wish to do 'Abhishek,' it will be allowed," the Counsel of State of Uttar Pradesh submitted before the Supreme Court.
