The Division Bench was considering whether the High Court in the exercise of powers under Section 482 proceeds to issue directions and make observations against a person, not a party before the Court without giving any opportunity of being heard.

Supreme Court bench dismissed the petition filed by Rajeev Suri, who had unsuccessfully challenged the notifications for the Central Vista Project earlier.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear the Mullaperiyar Dam case expeditiously for the final settlement of all points of dispute. The Court said this while hearing a batch of petitions filed by Kerala-based parties seeking directions to ensure the safety of the 126-year-old dam.

Supreme Court bench considered the urgency of the matter and preponed the connected matter which was previously listed on the 4th of January and would now be taken up along with the present writ petition on 18th November.
