Justice Lau Nageswara Rao was appointed to the Apex Court on May 13, 2016. Justice Rao, a direct appointee from the Bar, will have tenure in the Collegium till June 6, 2022, when he will demit the office of a judge.

The Court has ruled that legislative privilege cannot be extended to provide legal protection to criminal acts by lawmakers. Destruction of property in the name of protests should not be tolerated, it said.

The Supreme Court directed the CBI to ensure that no delay occurs in filing of an appeal. It also directed that necessary administrative steps be taken by CBI to ensure that filing and other steps be monitored on respective platform, so that such delay does not occur

In his reaction to Justice DY Chandrachud's recent statement that the anti-terror should not be misused for quelling dissent, former Supreme Court judge Justice (retired) RV Raveendran said there may be need for a law like that but such draconian laws should not be used to thwart dissent in democracy.

The Supreme Court on Friday refused to grant relief to Swami Om's associate Mukesh Jain from filing cost of Rs five lakh imposed on him over a Public Interest Litigation filed by him, challenging the appointment of Justice Dipak Misra as the Chief Justice of India.

The petition before the High Court was filed by Gurcharan Singh an 85-year-old person challenging the IGST on the import of oxygen concentrators as gifts for personal use. Singh opposed the 12% IGST imposed on an oxygen concentrator sent as a gift from his nephew in the US.

The plea stated that hospitals in Noida and Gurugram have made it mandatory to produce Aadhaar cards with a local Noida or Gurugram address, as the case may be, for being eligible to be admitted to hospitals in these two cities.

The Court has constituted a 12-member National Taskforce to streamline and ensure the “effective and transparent” allocation of Liquid Medical Oxygen to States and UTs and its audit.
