Gauhati High Court while hearing a PIL filed raising the issue of shortage of potable drinking water to the residents of the city of Guwahati directed the Jal Board to file an Affidavit indicating the progress made in the work for supplying drinking water in different parts of Guwahati city.

Gauhati High Court Itanagar division bench heard a PIL filed for praying for an investigation, either,by the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI), or, by the Special InvestigationTeam(SIT), for investigation of the alleged embezzlement of sanctioned amount.
