In what can be called a major setback for the Uttar Pradesh government, the Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the government to arrange for the shifting of arrested Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan

They were later booked under provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and charges of sedition.

The Supreme Court has given permission to the Kerala Journalist Siddique Kappan to meet his ailing mother through video conferencing. Siddique was arrested while he was on his way to meet the hathras rape victim's mother.

New Delhi (ILNS): The Supreme Court today agreed to hear on Friday a petition for an interim bail for Kerala journalist Siddique Kappan, arrested by Uttar Pradesh Police, while he was in Hathras to visit the victims of the tragedy and cover the case.

The Supreme Court on Monday adjourned the habeas corpus plea filed by the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) seeking the release of its Delhi unit secretary Siddique Kappan from the illegal detention of Uttar Pradesh Police by 4 weeks.
