The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Maharashtra government’s 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in elections to local bodies in the state.
Contrary to media reports, many states have flatly denied deaths due to oxygen shortage during the second wave of Covid-19. This is despite courts pulling them up for their lackadaisical attitude towards patients.
The bench expressed surprise that the former top cop of the city says he has lost faith in Mumbai Police, a force he was part of for 30 years. The bench commented that “people in glass houses should not throw stones.”
The Supreme Court will on Wednesday pronounce its judgment in the petitions challenging the Maharashtra Socially and Educationally Backward Classes Act, 2018 (SEBC Act).
The Petitioners accordingly met the Respondents personally and requested them to supply the oxygen cylinders as demanded as the failure on their part has left the Petitioners with no option than to procure the cylinders in the black market.
The Court further directed the Health Secretary to issue a fresh district wise allocation order of Remdesivir vials based upon the order of the Central Government dated 1.5.2021 which should be effective for a period from 1st May, 2021 till 9th May, 2021.
