A divisional bench of the Supreme Court issued the notice in a matter of plea filed against the National Green Tribunal order taking suo-motu cognizance on a news item published in The Indian Express this would be really an issue of safety of the factory or an establishment.

A two-judge bench of the Supreme Court issued a notice on an appeal filed by Odissa state challenging the National Green Tribunal order on the Polavaram project while tagging similar matters along with it and refused to grant any stay on the proceedings.

The National Green Tribunal's Principal Bench has disposed of the application seeking directions against illegal sand mining in the Godavari-Krishna river beds and free distribution of sand.

The tribunal opined this in the application filed seeking quashing of the order of State of Haryana allowing manufacturers of formaldehyde, requiring prior Environmental Clearance (EC), to operate for six months without EC, subject to making application for EC within 60 days.

The National Green Tribunal disposed of the plea seeking for a direction to amend the Regulations titled “Minimum Requirements for Annual MBBS Admissions Regulations (2020)” issued by the National Medical Commission, terming it as a policy matter to be considered by the concerned authority.

The VMC taking its stand that the project has not yet been finalized and it was only at conceptual stage. The project was to beautify and rejuvenate the river for the benefit of the general public.

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued notices to the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Department of Water Resources, Central Water Commission, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu governments, among others, over the proposed dam on the Cauvery river.

Further directions has been sought to the Respondents to formulate and place on record strategy/scheme to prevent the Western Ghats and to file its report before the NGT.

The Bench of Justice S Abdul Nazeer and Justice Sanjiv Khanna issued notice in the plea filed by a school through Advocate Rani Chabbra.

The petitioners followed the order of the Karnataka High Court, directing them to approach the NGT in a plea challenging Section 40 of the Biological Diversity Act, 2002.
