According to the List of Supreme Court and High Court Judges, published on September 1, 2021 by the Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, the Madras High Court is currently working at a strength of 56 judges, including 46 Permanent Judges and 10 Additional Judges.

The Supreme Court Collegium has approved the recommendation of two Judicial Officers (Mohan Lal and Mohd. Akram Chowdhary) as Judges in the Jammu and Kashmir High Court. In its meeting held on September 1, the Collegium also resolved to reiterate its earlier recommendations for elevation of two Advocates
While 16 names were recommended for appointment to the Allahabad High Court, 8 were chosen for Kerala, 10 for Calcutta High Court , 7 for Rajasthan, 5 each for Gauhati and Jharkhand, 4 each for Punjab & Haryana and Madras, 2 for Chhattisgarh, and 1 for Madhya Pradesh.
The Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) N V Ramana, has recommended 68 names, including 44 advocates and 24 judicial officers, for appointment as judges in 12 High Courts of the country.
President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday approved all nine names, including three women and one lawyer, recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium and accepted by the government for appointment as judges of the top court.
The Central government has accepted the names of all eight Judges and one Supreme Court lawyer, as recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium, for elevation to the apex court, reports said here.
