The court of Additional Sessions Judge, Karkardooma observed, "The sort of investigation conducted in the instant case and the lack of supervision thereof by the superior officers clearly depicts that the investigating agency has merely tried to pull the wool over the Court’s eyes and nothing else.

Last week, the Haridwar district administration ordered a probe after reports emerged that over one lakh fake tests were conducted during the religious gatherings. According to reports, the labs apparently did so to meet the daily testing quota of 50,000 tests set by Uttarakhand High Court.

Referring to the Bhajan Lal case, Justice Shinde observed, “if the petitioner's case falls under any of the categories, we need not wait for the completion of the investigation".
