In view of the opposition by lawyers of the High Court, the Allahabad High Court has withdrawn its decision to hear cases virtually in view of rising cases of Covid-19 in Uttar Pradesh both at its principal seat at Allahabad and at the Lucknow Bench.
The Court said the applicant's counsel had submitted that the prosecution case was imaginative with regards to granting bail. With the charge-sheet already filed, there is no hope of early conclusion of the trial and proceeded to grant bail.
It is contended that the staff and bouncers working of Hotel Allahabad Regency, Civil Lines, Prayagraj, have let loose a reign of terror upon residents of the neighbourhood. The petition has demanded that the local people be provided security from the hotel staff.

The Petition stated that under the present system, cases from 60 Districts of UP fall under the jurisdiction of the Principal seat at Prayaraj whereas cases from only 15 districts are filed at Lucknow.
