The matter came up before the vacation bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and Aniruddha Bose on Wednesday. The bench listed the matter before the regular bench on January 4, 2021.

The Aurangabad Bench of the Bombay High Court on Friday made the above direction while allowing a student of the Maratha caste to avail EWS reservation benefits with an undertaking not to claim any other reservation, either vertical or horizontal, except EWS category.

The bench comprising Justices L. Nageswara Rao, Hemant Gupta and Ajay Rastogi was hearing an appeal filed by the State of Kerala against the High Court order which had quashed the Government order.

The Supreme Court has referred to a larger bench the issue of Maratha reservation in Maharashtra while ordering a stay on reservations for them in jobs and admissions.
