Gujarat High Court lawyer Yatin Oza might still have a chance of getting his Senior Advocate cloak back. The Supreme Court yesterday observed that depriving a lawyer of his senior tag is like a “death penalty.”
The Supreme Court today adjourned the hearing till October 13, on a plea filed by president of Gujarat High Court Bar Association and Advocate Yatin Oza challenging the Gujarat High Court’s decision to take away his senior designation in a contempt case against him.
The Bar Council of India (BCI) yesterday wrote to the Chief Justice and his companion judges of Madras High Court to recall the “The Madras High Court Designation of Senior Advocates Rules 2020”
An application has been filed before the Supreme Court, seeking directions for proper and effective implementation of the court’s guidelines issued to regulate conferment of the designation of Senior Advocates.
