A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to conduct upcoming Supreme Court Bar Association elections 2020-2021, strictly by way of “secret ballot” in physical form, in terms of Bye-Law no. 17 of Supreme Court Bar Association.
A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court against the Supreme Court Bar Association alleging that the Executive Committee of the SCBA has made brazen attempts to interfere with the Election process
Election Committee initiated discussions with NSDL and the SCBA for conducting elections on a virtual platform, however the Executive Commitee had already made decision to hold elections both virtually and physically.
Dushyant Dave resigned as the president of the SCBA citing that he had forfeited the right to continue as the leader of the SCBA. He said further continuation in office as SCBA president in these circumstances will be morally wrong.
A representation has been made by Supreme Court Bar Association lawyers Kuldeep Rai, Ankur Jain, Anubhav, plus more than 500 members including Senior Advocates citing many problems which are being faced by them during the Virtual Court hearings.
