Justice DK Basu former Calcutta High Court Judge has left for his heavenly abode. He was the famous petitioner in the landmark case titled as DK Basu Vs State of West Bengal in which the Apex Court had laid down guidelines that should be followed while making arrest.
I shared a warm and cordial friendship with this votary for human rights and multi-faceted personality. He not only protected the freedom to dissent but practised remarkable hospitality to public criticism.
The Delhi High Court has issued a notice on Thursday to the Centre on a petition filed by an 85-year-old lady seeking exemption of 12% IGST on import of oxygen concentrator sent by her grandson from the USA.
The Court directed the State Election Commission to “produce before us the CCTV footage of the designated counting areas and centres both in the form the footage print and also Pen Drive by the next date fixed
“The Company (Devas) fraudulently raised foreign investment of Rs 579 crore and subsequently illegally transferred 85% of the investment out of India to its subsidiary in USA in the guise of investment and services fees etc,” the ED investigation revealed.
