A Delhi Court on Thursday granted bail to former JNU student Umar Khalid in the case relating to the violence that broke out in the Khajuri Khas area of North East district of national capital and said "chargesheeting him in this case on the basis of such an insignificant material is unwarranted."
In its Chargesheet, the Delhi Police named Umar Khalid, Sharjeel Imam, Faizan Khan, Danish, Parvez, Ilyas, Khalid Saifi, Ishrat Jahan, Tahir Hussain, Meeran Haider, Pinjda Tod activists Gulfisha Fatima, Safoora Zargar, Natasha Narwal and Devangana Kalita, as accused of 'criminal conspiracy'.
New Delhi (ILNS): The Delhi High Court has granted bail to Faizan Khan, an accused in the Anti-CAA Delhi riots of February 23-25, this year. The court found no proof on records, such as CCTV footage, video or chats.
The Patiala House Court, Delhi has sent Jawaharlal Nehru University alumnus leader Umar Khalid to 14 days judicial custody in a case related to communal violence in north-east Delhi in February. Along with this, the Court directed the jail authorities to provide him adequate security.
Senior Advocate Rakesh Dwivedi, appearing for West Bengal, said the matter is in the ambit of the concurrent list, where both the Centre and the State can legislate. The State law cannot be rendered repugnant to the Centre’s law, until and unless it is in conflict with the same.
