A PIL has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking directions to the Union of India to reconsider the misuse of laws under Sections 354A-354D, 506, 509, 376, 498a of IPC and to make gender-neutral laws as these laws were made earlier more than 150 years ago but now there is no such required and is contrary to Articles 14, 19 and 21 of the Constitution of India as misuse of these laws are rising across the country.

The petition is filed by an advocate, who said women being not allowed admission to the National Defence Academy (NDA) is a violation of the fundamental right of equality and the right to practice a profession.

The plea filed in Delhi High Court contended that it is an obligation of the Government to look after the effective implementation of the provisions of The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989

The Delhi High Court bench issued a notice in the petition by an Advocate, who is affected by the said Rules. The matter is slated for September 13’ 2021.

A Public Interest Litigation has been filed in the Supreme Court, seeking directions to the Union of India to safeguard the lives of road users undergoing death and injuries in road accidents by covering penal provisions under Sections 279, 304A, 337 and 338 of IPC into non-bailable.
